What are the benefits of a RV Golf Vacation?
RV golfing allows you to travel conveniently with your gear, save on accommodation costs, and experience different courses. It offers flexibility in planning tee times and enjoying the RV lifestyle between games. RVs provide comfort and familiarity, making it a popular choice for avid golfers on the go.
1. Convenience of Proximity: Most of the time, you will find that golf courses are situated out of town away from city limits or in more rural areas, allowing them to maximize the space to create the perfect, scenic setting. Campgrounds happen to have the same idea of what they want their Guests to experience, meaning they are often in close proximity to golf courses! Having the convenience of the campground you choose being near the golf course is every golfer’s dream!
2. Plenty of Storage: In our larger Class C models, you will find exterior compartments that can be used to store your clubs while you are at your campsite and provide a separate space for them that is not in your living quarters. The Maxi Motorhome MHA has storage compartments that span the entire width of the unit, often used for snowboards or skis, it will surely fit multiple golf bags. The storage compartments can be locked, which allows your bags to be safely put in there throughout the time you are not on the course.
3. Campground Amenities for All Ages: When you are booking your campground, you will notice there are amenities listed for you to enjoy during your stay. Amenities can be great for all ages, from the playgrounds to the horseshoe pits, everyone is sure to have a good time when they are not yelling fore on the fairway! Some great campground amenities would be a swimming pool, slides, sand volleyball court, bike trails, or an outdoor movie theatre. Amenities are a great way to enjoy your vacation without veering too far from your motorhome.
4. Quick Golf Rounds: If you only have plans during the day, you can book a twilight tee time for a quick 9 holes and make it back to camp in time for smores! It is easy for you to travel to and from the golf course in minimal time, allowing you to enjoy your time on the green (or maybe the bunker) and with your travel partners at the campground.
Tips for Planning your Vacation
Finding your Campground: While booking your campsite, you will want to check the distance between the site and the golf course you are playing at. Some golf courses also have an RV campground directly on their property and that is the most convenient offering. Check out the top destinations in Canada further down in the blog and get a good idea of where you may want to go for your next vacation.
Getting to the Golf Course: While the RV is your main mode of transportation to get to your campground, it could be a good idea to see if there are other ways of getting around that can allow you to leave your RV at the campsite while you play. Other modes of transportation may be renting golf carts (if on golf resort property), walking, carpooling with others or a shuttle if possible. You can also ask ahead if they have RV parking on site if you do opt to drive your motorhome or aren’t booked at that campsite the entirety of the day.
Booking your Tee-Time: While camping allows for spontaneous travel, you may not find this with all golf resorts or courses. The majority of golf courses require golfers to reserve their tee time in advance, allowing them to plan accordingly for the day ahead. You may also find that when you book in advance, the costs can be less than if you were to show up and golf the same day without a tee time.
Group Size: To find the perfect RV for your trip, you will want to consider how many people will be joining you on your golf vacation. CanaDream offers seven different types of RVs, ranging in size and perfect for 2 to 7 passengers. You can bring your whole family, one other person or make it a trip with friends.
Motorhome Size: You may also want to take into consideration the size of the vehicle if you plan on parking directly at the golf course or if you need extra storage. As mentioned, the MHA has the most exterior storage with the large back compartment, it also can seat up to 6 passengers (4 adults & 2 children) and is 28 feet in length. The MHA would be ideal for families or friends! Check out our Navigating CanaDream RV Typesfor more information on each vehicle to make an informed decision.
