Saskatoon
The largest city in the province of Saskatchewan is thriving! Surrounded on all sides by endless fields of shimmering wheat, Saskatoon is the cultural and economic hub of central Saskatchewan.
The city straddles the South Saskatchewan River, dividing it roughly equally into East and West sides, with numerous bridges connecting the two. The number one tourist attraction in Saskatoon is the Western Development Museum, one in a network of four museums preserving and recording the social and economic development of Saskatchewan. On the city’s northern edge, Wanuskewin Heritage Park has 19 sites representing the active and historical society of the Northern Plains First Nations peoples.
On both banks of the South Saskatchewan River, the Meewasin Valley Trail will take you past historic sites and close by other major tourist attractions.
The route is popular with walkers year-round.
The kids may enjoy a trip to Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo, a small non-profit farm park with more than 90 species of birds and animals. Art lovers should pay a visit to the Mendel Art Gallery which showcases international, national and regional art.
Saskatoon is the fourth largest city in Canada’s Prairie Provinces, its population only slightly larger than its provincial capital, Regina. Its location along the northern branch of the Trans Canada Highway makes it a great place to visit on an RV vacation.
